Ukranian Oleksii Kovalchuk has had an unbelievable year playing live tournament poker and it got even better when he won his second WSOP bracelet in Las Vegas Sunday.

Oleksii Kovalchuk is making poker look too easy. In just his second World Series of Poker, he has won his second gold bracelet and his third cash off the 2012 World Series by topping a field of 393 players in the $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo/Seven-card Stud Hi-Lo event.

Ukrainian poker player, Oleksii Kovalchuk, has stormed into a massive lead on Day 2 of the Partouche Poker Tour in Cannes. When the chips were counted at the close of play last night, the 21 year-old from Kiev had almost double the number of chips of second placed Juan Maceiras and Day 1 chip leader Giuseppe Pantaleo, who now lies in third position.

It's not often that there has been a heads-up battle between Ukrainian and Romanian players on U.S. soil, but in the $2,500 six-handed Event 26, the World Series of Poker continued to prove that poker, and the attraction to participate in its prestigious event, is a global phenomenon. Oleksii Kovalchuk, a 21-year-old professional poker player, emerged out of the 1,378-player field to earn his first WSOP bracelet. Kovalchuk defeated Ionel Anton heads-up and joined Eugene Katchalov as the only Ukranian-born players to win at the WSOP, both this year. Katchalov became the first when he won Event 5 during the first week of the Series.
